Seventh Post: The Biweekly Post

Last day of MYEEP workshop
Had two interviews the last two days: Greenagers and BAY. They were great experiences and I learned to prepare for future interviews too. I still cannot forget how I did at the Peer Mentor interview..*face palm* It has been two weeks that I haven't post any entries due to my busy schedule. I will be having a History test on human rights violations around the world in the 20th century. Tough work..I have to memorize all the information in less than a week along with my other homework and activities.

Because I had to go to CYC to turn in my Great America field trip form (only the first 20 early birds get to go for free :)) on Wednesday and had an interview on Thursday, I wasn't able to listen to the student presentations for the Science Research Club. I really want to see how they did. Oh well.. can't rewind time. OH.. as I mentioned, I will be going to Great America and sure not, I will post the pictures too!

Tuesday was the last day of MYEEP workshop :( But I got to eat a lot of delicious food =D I really have to thanks MYEEP for everything. Everything I am mostly doing now is through the help of MYEEP. Without this organization, my freshmen year will be hell yeah...boring. I will cherish the moments we have together. I met lots of new friends and gained lots of confidence as well as skills that will be essential to me for the rest of my life. The first motive that drove me to MYEEP was the money..well it still kind of is right now. However after two semesters, I drifted my motives. I really think MYEEP helped me a lot. If I were to do MYEEP another time without the wage, I would be willing to do it again! I LOVE MYEEP! Thanks CYC for this opportunity. I will look forward to become a CIT and engage in another program under CYC!

On Friday, we had an ethnic food festival in history class. Yum! Got to try different cultural foods and some junk snacks too. I made ham and cheese quesadilla. I had fun in the process of making it. After so many tries of making it, I reached perfections! :) I am happy that my dish was gone by the end of class!! I always had the fear that what I bring to the party will not be popular and I will end up bringing it home. When I was in 7th grade, I brought 5 cans of pringles and it sure was not popular. I was afraid that it would happen again. Luckily, it did not!! :)

Although this week was a bit crazy, I had fun and enjoyed it! Enjoy your day like the best day everyday! LOL..does it even make sense?

Sather Gate!!!

Saturday was super fun...well at least most of the part. CAL-DAY!! Went to UC Berkeley! Got some free perks and an awesome visit! Got a chocolate chip green tea ice cream sandwich from CREAM!! I don't know why people like CREAM, but I think the quality is so-so. Anyways, it was delicious!! =D Also, I had $10 to buy lunch--got Fish Cake Ramen. UCB is enormous and pretty. I would love to go there!! Definitely will apply there for college. I love the myth about the two brothers fighting over a girl and coming up with different numbers of the rooms in the building. Haha, alos the 4.0 Hill. Thanks MYEEP for this awesome field trip. Thanks UC Berkeley's faculty and students for the amazing "open house" arrangements! I LOVE UC BERKELEY!! GO BEARS! GO BEARS!

Fifth Post--BizAcademy :)

Had a marvelous fantastic Spring Break with lots of surprises! I spent this year's Spring Break in the financial district at sales force.com. There were great snacks, delicious lunches, freebies, new friends, and learning experience. At first, I decided to not to go..because I knew no one in there. Fortunately, I did not quit and continued my awesome journey there.

What did you do there, you asked? It was a series of workshops that teaches youngsters sales, tech, and marketing. I really learned a lot from just the five days of workshops. At last, on Friday, the groups would pitch their idea to the judges.

Let's rewind!!

Monday
First day of workshop..did not really enjoy it. No one I knew was there. We had assigned groups and topics to build an app on. There were sixteen participants in total, breaking into four groups. Our topic was pet care. Therefore, we had to create an app that helps to owners care pets more convenient. Great lunch!! Sandwiches and salad from Speciality.

Tuesday
More idea brainstorming and did a practice pitch with the sales people at salesforce. It went well. Our app was basically a scheduling and document holder app that provides an online community for users to chat with other users. Lunch: super delicious Chipotle burrito with barbecued chicken, brown rice, lettuce, and guacamole!!! Yum,yum. The snacks there were really good too. Heaven of food!!!

Wednesday
Had to deal with my passport stuff and missed half of the day of workshop including the lunch and group brainstorming..it was okay. At least, I caught up with the last hour of workshop and toured the salesforce headquarter!! :)

Thursday
More busy work and lessons. Enjoying my Spring Break so far! Love it! Lunch: PIZZA! Had to choose the MVP for our team and I chose Walter. He is a cool guy that brought pleasure to our stressful work :).

Friday
Last day of BizAcademy :( We had to pitch today. Not nervous because I was the tech support..not the pitcher. Met the cofounder of salesforce: Parker Harris! Super awesome. Along with three other highly positioned people at the pitch. I have to admit... I think my group and I did really horribly during the pitch. But guess what? WE WON THE JUDGES' HEARTS AND GOT FIRST PLACE!!!! What was even more awesome was that each person got to get $100 for his/her dedication in the workshops and an iPad!!!! I was stunt at that moment.. What, iPads!? Yes, I did not misheard them. Because our group won, we got a $150 bonus!!Sweet! We also did a raffle for two Toshiba computers... I knew would not have the luck to get the computers. Remember the MVP...yes, whoever was chosen the most for MVP would get an extra $100 iTunes gift card.. Of course, not me again. I think the person who got it voted for herself, but anyways, I think she deserved it. Lunch: went to Tender Green and I ordered steak with mashed potato with kale. Yum, yum! Thanks Aaron for this delicious meal!

Here, I would like to thank the awesome MYEEP of JCYC for making this happen. Most importantly, salesforce too. So, thank you!!

Thank you...
Amanda, Beth, Aaron, Anna, Parker, and all the other volunteers at salesforce for helping me and the other participants to get some hands-on experience of business and teaching us every bit of important information. I really appreciate you guys' hope and dedication to us. :)

My best Spring Break EVER!! Thanks for the awesome peeps that made this happen. I would cherish and treasure every moment we had together in the deepest place in my heart.
